Game Introduction

Monospaced Lovers is a narrative platform-adventure game about closeness and distance. The game takes the player on a metafictional, introspective journey to save the heroine's world before it disintegrates. The game's key feature is a text messaging system where the heroine, Clara, converses with a character who she can't meet — they can only communicate through their phones. The text messages are woven into the puzzles and quests as in-game hints, but Clara's connection with her new friend gradually transforms into a romance. The core theme of the game is "falling in love with someone you've never met." Additionally, the game's puzzles are designed to treat the player like an adult. The design harkens back to the likes of Fez, La-Mulana, and even The Witness — games where secrets are often hidden in plain sight, and where the player must actively engage with the game to discover them.
